Interior & Furniture

This section covers furniture, interior finishes, fixtures and the smaller components that make up a home.

Example guides

Condition matters more than the calendar

Furniture and finishes wear according to use, material, sunlight, moisture, pets, children, cleaning methods and installation quality. A heavily used sofa or floor can age much faster than the same product in a low-traffic room.

Repair, refresh or replace?

Many interior items can be renewed without full replacement: upholstery can sometimes be repaired, timber refinished, fittings adjusted and surfaces recoated. Replacement becomes more compelling where structural damage, persistent moisture, hygiene problems or repeated repairs are involved.

Use the ranges for budgeting

The lifespan figures in these guides are intended to help with planning and comparison. They are not warranties or predictions for a specific product.
