Best EV for long-distance driving in 2026
For motorway and cross-country use, two numbers dominate the technical brief: how far the car can travel and how quickly it can add energy when you stop.
Up to 496–500 miles WLTP, 400kW DC and around 21 minutes for 10–80%.
Up to 433–436 miles WLTP with an 86kWh net battery and strong official efficiency figures.
84kWh long-range battery and a quoted 10–80% charge in 18 minutes on suitable high-power infrastructure.
84kWh version with up to 354 miles WLTP and an 800V charging architecture.
Why peak charging power is not enough
A high peak kW figure is useful, but a long-distance EV also needs a strong charging curve, good efficiency and enough battery capacity that stops are not too frequent. Weather, battery temperature, speed and charger availability can all reduce real-world performance.
Why WLTP still helps
WLTP does not predict your exact motorway range, but it gives a standardised basis for comparing models. For this technical ranking, we combine the official range figure with the manufacturer’s rapid-charging claim rather than pretending either number alone settles the question.
